NCG PACE (Patient Advocacy Capacity-building and Engagement) is an initiative of the National Cancer Grid (NCG) aimed at strengthening the role of patients, survivors, caregivers and patient advocates in improving cancer care in India.
The programme seeks to build the knowledge, skills and confidence of patient advocates so that they can participate meaningfully in areas such as cancer research, clinical guideline development, health technology assessment and healthcare policy. A central objective is to ensure that the perspectives and lived experiences of patients are incorporated into decisions that affect cancer care.
PACE also aims to create opportunities for meaningful and sustained engagement between patient advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers and other stakeholders within the NCG. Through structured training, mentorship, networking and opportunities for participation, the programme seeks to develop a diverse and capable community of patient advocates across India.
The NCG PACE (Patient Advocacy Capacity-building and Engagement) programme follows a hybrid learning format over a period of four months. The programme includes structured virtual sessions, interactive discussions and learning activities designed to build participants' knowledge and skills in areas relevant to patient engagement in cancer research and healthcare.
The virtual component is followed by an opportunity for selected participants to attend the NCG CReDO Workshop in person. Selection for in-person attendance at the CReDO Workshop is based on participants' attendance, engagement and performance during the virtual sessions.
The in-person component provides an opportunity for participants to consolidate their learning, interact directly with researchers and healthcare professionals, and gain exposure to the processes involved in the development and conduct of cancer research.
